Paris Mountain State Park is a state park in South Carolina, United States, situated five miles (8 kilometers) north of Greenville. Hiking, biking, swimming, and picnics are among the activities provided in the 1,540-acre (6-km2) park. Swimming and fishing are available on the 13-acre (52,609 m2) Lake Placid. Rentals of canoes, kayaks, and pedal boats are offered periodically; private watercraft are not permitted. The park’s Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) facilities, including the Camp Buckhorn lodge, are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Camping is allowed, and campsites range from primitive, backcountry sites to paved sites with water and electrical hook-ups. Around 73 different varieties of plants may be found in Paris Mountain State Park. The bulk of the plant life on Paris Mountain is comparable to that found in the northern mountains. The Virginia Pine dominates the mountain’s highest peaks. There are several exceptions to the plant life that mimics that of the mountains to the north. Even though the plant is not native to the area, it may be found in various places on the mountain. Arbutus is another springtime shrub that blankets the mountain. On the mountain, there is also a unique variety of honeysuckle. Rosebay rhododendron can also be seen growing along the park’s rivers banks. Possums, foxes, and snakes are the most common animals on Paris Mountain. The park lakes are also home to bass, bream, and catfish. The mountain is home to more than 20 distinct bird species. On Paris Mountain, reserves of mica, graphite, and iron ore have all been discovered. The city of Greenville’s Paris Mountain State Park is a hub of activity. Hikers and mountain bikers alike will enjoy the park’s nine routes. Blazes, footbridges, and trail markers are among the path’s features. A 40-site family campsite with a mix of tent and RV sites is available at Paris Mountain State Park. Camp Buckhorn is a group facility on Buckhorn Lake near the park’s north end that includes a lodge with a dining/meeting area for 75 people and ten basic cottages. The park’s principal place for boating and fishing is the 15-acre Lake Placid, which is located in Paris Mountain State Park. Cabins are not rented separately. North Lake, also known as Reservoir 3, is the park’s bigger lake, which is closed to watercraft and only open to fishermen. Crappie, bream, and catfish may be found in the lake. The visitor center, also known as the Park Center, is located close to Lake Placid and provides maps and information on the amenities.
